The vivacious Brooklyn meets Tokyo two-piece act, Ken South Rock, have done did their stay in Brooklyn and are off overseas again for a several month tour of Japan & Taiwan. Heartbroken as we are the band has left us with an absolutely lovely parting gift. Here’s hoping it can hold us over for now. We’ll see you boys in September!!

BLOG: “Old Faces, New Tunes” It’s Been How Long??

Back with another blog post and this is one that looks to be pretty nostalgic. So sit back, relax and listen because I’ve got things to say. This past Monday night I was invited to see the one and only Devin put on his long awaited album release show over at Mercury Lounge (more on that in a later post.) Aside from Devin’s overall performance there was something else that night just filling me up with giddiness. What was it? The amount of (and particular) old faces that decided to show up that night. Whenever you get Mavy Ent. Co. & The Sour Mash in the same room together shit gets pretty nostalgic. Throw in the likes of Surprise Attack MGMT, SHAPES, Devin and The Static Jacks well then, we’ll rant on and reminisce for hours. Oh, the stories we could tell you; we’ve got your typical rockstar moments and others we wish we could do a better job recalling. This, pretty much, was the set mood for the night: warm fuzzy, alcohol drenched feelings and talk of the “good ol’ days” as if we were a bunch of old relics or something. I guess its just been a while since this combination of people were all under one roof. Its been about two years, perhaps a little more since shit started poppin’ off for some of our friends. Personality Crisis is still going strong, Beast Make Bomb (who weren’t in attendance, but were very much missed and talked about <3) won that Converse contest, The Static Jacks got signed to Fearless Records and released their debut album, then Devin with his own debut album and getting signed to Frenchkiss…man, how we’ve all grown up. Its great to see how many in our little circle are going out and really making some impressive moves, but it also leaves me wondering…whos next? At least, within our cozy Personality Crisis circle (can we call it that?) People know, but nobody says…the Brooklyn music community is really a community made up of mini communities. Bands, affiliations, etc. etc….etc. Not too much of a fan, but meh meh meh. Back to the question at hand though…who’s next? With more and more friends leaving to go tour Europe and fancy places like that I try and imagine the next Personality Crisis heavy hitter/staple. Oh well, let it be a pleasant surprise. Although…I wouldn’t mind an old school Personality Crisis showcase sometime: Beast Make Bomb, The Static Jacks, SHAPES & Devin….

Maybe.
